PhD Research The subject of my PhD research is Palaeogene siliceous volcanic deposits from the Isle of Skye, NW Scotland. I have been mapping and logging ignimbritic deposits at Kilchrist, Fionn Choire, Moll, and Sligachan formerly classified as felsites and agglomerates. By establishing and correlating ignimbritic lithofacies I have determined one phase of siliceous volcanism that pre-dates Cuillin intrusion and a second phase that post-dates Western Red Hill intrusion. This has amended the Palaeogene volcanic evolution of Skye.
